Echoes

Echoes, 100 Years in Finnish Design and Architecture Exhibition architecture for Echoes, an exhibition presenting Finland’s 100 year history through design and architecture. The exhibition is built around eight central themes which are all rooted within nature and natural elements. It shows how Finnish architecture and design echo similar themes which manifest themselves in different ways over time. The exhibition, which is one of the biggest Finland100 event abroad, will tour five European cities in 2017. New School Helsinki

New School Helsinki, a concept presenting Finnish schools and the way Helsinki engages the public in developing the city. The exhibition is an interactive space which symbolizes the school yard and the city. Just as the inhabitants of Helsinki are engaged in building the city, the visitors of the exhibition are invited to participate in building the space. As the exhibition goes on, the simple steel frame constructions symbolizing the city are gradually woven with colorful textile strands turning it into a warm and inviting environment. The exhibition was part of the International Design House exhibition at Taipei WDC 2016. The concept was created for the City of Helsinki in co-operation with Visit Helsinki and Werklig.

Instead of lining the walls, our kitchen is a central hub which also functions as a dining, living and library space.

HELSINKI WDC 2012

Everyday Discoveries (2012) As the main exhibition for the Helsinki World Design Capital Everyday Discoveries presented design from over 24 countries world wide. The show took place in the old powerplant area Suvilahti. The exhibition was curated by Elina Aalto together with IMU, and Aalto+Aalto was responsible for the exhibition architecture.

6 scenes of beauty (2012) An exhibition combining art and design around the concept of the diorama for Vantaa City Art Museum. The exhibition was part of the Helsinki World Design Capital programme as the main event of the city of Vantaa. The exhibition was curated and the exhibition architecture designed by Aalto+Aalto. It featured works by Nathalie Lahdenmäki & Naoto Niidome,Rami Niemi & Teemu Väätäinen, Tuula Pöyhönen, Tommi Toija,  Anna Tuori and Maaria Wirkkala who all created spatial interpretations on the concept of beauty. The exhibition identity was designed by Werklig.
